Sweet 1985 was started by Berenice and Jt in 2009. The duo met back in 2004 in San Francisco when they were college roommates. After many years of friendship, the duo decided to start a jewelry line that’s not only edgy, fun and eclectic which reflected their personalities, but also a company that’s conscious to being eco-friendly and to help reduce the carbon footprint. Sweet 1985 tries to do everything to save the planet by communicating through email, skype and only internet medium (all business meetings are over the web), they use recycle packaging for all their jewelry pieces, use vintage and recycled materials, and their catalogs are only available online. Sweet 1985 believes in green initiatives, locally conscious sourcing, and bringing cultures together. Bere and Jt believe that by contributing little by little, it will make a big difference to the world. Both designers want their customers to have effortless and edgy jewelry with a sense of responsibility to the earth The Skully – Rovski collection was the designers’ first breakout collection. The designers wanted to express their personalities and styles through the collection. Both are fashionable, edgy and eclectic. Their love for everything skulls with a mixed of femininity was reflected through this collection. Everything is handmade with love in New York and California. Some materials they used are: Swarovski crystals, antique chains, antique charms, gold plated chains, and sterling silver chains. *Some materials are vintage, therefore cannot be replicated exactly the same.
